Alex shares this easy and delicious Yakitori Style Chicken recipe, pairing it with Miss Chow’s dumpling sauce; a perfect duo!


Ingredients

  • 500g chicken thigh fillets
  • Flaky salt
  • 2–3 tbsp mirin
  • Splash of sesame oil
  • 6 spring onions (cut into 2–3cm pieces)
  • Olive oil (for cooking)
  • Sesame seeds & chopped spring onions (for garnish)
  • Sauce: Miss Chow’s Dumpling Sauce

Method

  • Soak bamboo skewers in water for 30 mins before cooking to prevent them from burning
  • Remove any excess fat from the chicken thighs
  • Once they have been trimmed, cut into bite sized pieces
  • Place chicken pieces into a bowl with some flaky salt, 2-3 tbsp of mirin and a splash of sesame oil
  • While the chicken is marinating, chop the bottoms of the spring onions into 2-3 cm pieces
  • Skewer the chicken and spring onion alternating them until you have a full skewer.
  • Heat a pan over medium heat, drizzle skewers with olive oil, and cook for 2–3 mins per side until caramelised.
  • Lower heat, brush skewers with sauce, flip ad brush again (repeat 2-3 times).
  • Plate skewers, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped sprig onions and enjoy!
