Alex shares this easy and delicious Yakitori Style Chicken recipe, pairing it with Miss Chow’s dumpling sauce; a perfect duo!
Ingredients
- 500g chicken thigh fillets
- Flaky salt
- 2–3 tbsp mirin
- Splash of sesame oil
- 6 spring onions (cut into 2–3cm pieces)
- Olive oil (for cooking)
- Sesame seeds & chopped spring onions (for garnish)
- Sauce: Miss Chow’s Dumpling Sauce
Method
- Soak bamboo skewers in water for 30 mins before cooking to prevent them from burning
- Remove any excess fat from the chicken thighs
- Once they have been trimmed, cut into bite sized pieces
- Place chicken pieces into a bowl with some flaky salt, 2-3 tbsp of mirin and a splash of sesame oil
- While the chicken is marinating, chop the bottoms of the spring onions into 2-3 cm pieces
- Skewer the chicken and spring onion alternating them until you have a full skewer.
- Heat a pan over medium heat, drizzle skewers with olive oil, and cook for 2–3 mins per side until caramelised.
- Lower heat, brush skewers with sauce, flip ad brush again (repeat 2-3 times).
- Plate skewers, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped sprig onions and enjoy!
