Story: Wine Appreciation: 2019 Durif
Episode: 4
Presenter: Cassandra Charlick
Air Date: 30th October 2022
Scott takes a delightful trip to the stunning Perth Hills to try a very special Durif wine!
- Myattsfield were the very first place in WA to plan the Durif variety of grapes.
- Also known as Petit Syrah, it’s originally a French variety and was developed in the 1800s by a French botanist.
- Typically you’ll find lots of tannins and a really deep colour, due to the thick skin on the grapes.
- This beautiful Durif would pair perfectly with a roast beef, as it really needs some hearty protein to stand up to the density of fruit and the weight of the wine and grip of the tannins.
- Tasting notes - mulberry, plum with some delicious spice notes.
